Bernard Tomic Bio

Australian tennis star Bernard Tomic is a highly-regarded athlete with an impressive track record of success. A former World No.17, he has reached the quarterfinals or better in all four Grand Slam tournaments and was a semifinalist at the 2017 Wimbledon Championships. Tomic has also earned multiple doubles titles, including the ATP Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells and the Davis Cup title for Australia in 2013.

Tomic’s career began when he won the 2008 Australian Open Boys’ Singles Championship, becoming the tournament’s youngest-ever winner. He then topped this achievement by winning his first professional singles title at age 19, making him one of the youngest professional players to do so. In 2011, Tomic clinched his first Grand Slam match win over then-World No.3 Novak Djokovic at the US Open, launching him into international fame and recognition as one of tennis’ brightest rising stars. Novak had ended his winning streak at Wimbledon a few months earlier.

Since then, Tomic has had some highs and lows on court and away from it. Off court controversies have included public disputes with team members and officials that have seen him fined heavily or suspended from tournaments altogether. Despite these setbacks, Tomic still stands out as one of Australia’s best talents and a powerful force on court when playing his best game. His mental toughness has endured through the years and allowed him to remain competitive against some of tennis’ toughest competitors despite any off-court drama that may arise around him.

Tomic’s passion for tennis continues to this day despite all of his experiences both good and bad on tour – most recently seeing him reach No 33 in singles rankings while fighting back from two hip surgeries last year alone – inspiring fans across Australia to strive for excellence in their own careers regardless of adversity they may face along their journey.
