Daniele Baroni is the lucky husband of Mirjana Lučić-Baroni. The 5’11” Croatian tennis player enjoyed a successful career in the 90’s; she has now reemerged in the tennis circuit following the 2010 season, by defeated world No. 2 Simona Halep in the third round of the US Open and again at the 2015 French Open. More recently she played against Karolina Plíšková at the 2017 Australian Open.

Daniele’s wife Mirjana Lučić-Baroni was born in Croatia on March 9, 1982. She was 15 when she turned pro on April 26, 1997. She won the Australian Open title the following year, becoming the youngest player to do so. In addition to her Aussie title, Lucie won the Toray Pan Pacific Open, in Tokyo, Japan.

For the years that followed, she struggled with personal and financial problems; by far the most shocking revelation came in 2006 when she opened up about the abuse she went thru by her father Marinko when she was a child.

She came back strong, winning the Joué-lès-Tours, in France in 2013 and theCoupe Banque Nationale in Quebec City, Canada the following year. She reached the third round at French Open in 2013 and again in 2016; eliminated at the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2013 (doubles) and reached the third round at the US Open also in 2013, fourth round a year later.

Mirjana Lučić-Baroni dated her husband Daniele Baroni before their wedding on November 15, 2011, in Sarasota, Florida where they still live, he had proposed a year earlier. Mr. Baroni an Italian/ American businessman and restauranteur is the co-owner of Cafe Epicure with partner Giovanni Migliorini and of the Mirjana Lučić-Baron which first opened its doors in January 1996 in Sarasota.
