At Challenger level, the best showing was an SF at Kazan. In Grand Slam debut at Roland Garros, posted 1st Tour-level win over Alex Kuznetsov. He made ATP debut as a wild card in Montpellier and also played in Marseille.
Pouille’s first big break came when he won his first ATP Tour title at the 2016 Open 13 tournament in Marseille, France. It was followed by two more victories at Stuttgart Open and Moselle Open later that year. His stellar performance throughout 2017 earned him a top 10 ranking by April 2018, making him just the fifth French player to achieve this feat after Yannick Noah, Henri Leconte, Cedric Pioline and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. This incredible feat cements his legacy as one of the greatest French tennis players of all time.
In 2019 Lucas Pouille made history when he became the first Frenchman to reach a Grand Slam final since Yannick Noah in 1983. He clinched four Top 10 wins en route to that amazing achievement, including Rafael Nadal in quarterfinals. Despite falling short against Nadal, it was a momentous occasion for both Lucas Pouille and French tennis fans around the world who had long awaited such an accomplishment from their hero. The same year he led France to its first Davis Cup title since 2017—an impressive feat for which he was awarded with Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of Arts and Letters).
The 2021 season is looking promising for Lucas Pouille who already reached semifinals at Rotterdam Open earlier this month – his best result since February 2020!
