Sven Groeneveld is the talented coach of Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova; prior to joining Maria in 2013, Sven coached Caroline Wozniacki, Mary Pierce, Tommy Haas, Monica Seles, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Mario Ancic and Greg Rusedski, who is also a good friend of Sven, as a matter of fact, Groeneveld was his best man when he tied the knot in 1999.

Sven Groeneveld, was born in Haarlem, Netherlands on July 22, 1965. He started playing tennis when he was a little boy, but it was until he was 19 that he turned pro. Sven retired in 1986; he didn’t achieve much.

Sven nowadays a consultant and coach with the Adidas Player Development Program, started his coaching career in 1989; he started working with  Monica Seles; then joined Mary Pierce’s coaching team; then coach Ana Ivanovic who won one Grand Slam title and reached #1 in 2008 while she worked with Sven.

Subsequently worked with Aranxta Sanchez, Greg Rusedski, Nathalie Dechy and with Carolina Wozniacki in 2010. In addition to them, Sven coached Esther Vergeer, Nicolas Kiefer, Betsy Nagelsen, Kimiko Tommy Haas, Date-Krumm, and Mario Ancic.

Regarding Sven Groeneveld’s personal life, he doesn’t seem to be married, nor he has any children, but he could be dating Dutch dancer and choreographer Nanine Linning.
