Denis Istomin, the Ezbek tennis player has been making a name for himself since turning pro in 2004. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 33 in August 2012. The 30-year-old might be one of the most coveted bachelors in his country and apparently no girl has been able to snatch him.
Istomin was born September 7, 1986 in Orenburg, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union). Known as Deni, he began playing tennis at age five. He is the son of Oleg –a businessman and his mother, Klaudiya Istomina is his coach. He grew up with his parents and one brother, Anton.
He attended University of Physical Culture & Sport in Uzbekistan and holds a degree in physical culture in June 2011. By then he had already broke into the top–200 late in 2005 and finished the year at #196. Also that year, he also won his first Challenger tournament, in Bukhara.
Professional athletes are subjected to all kinds of injuries but in Denis’ case it was a car crash that threatened his career. It was in 2001 when Denis Istomin in route to an event injured his leg and didn’t play for two years. Doctors had told him he would never hold a racquet again.
In fall of 2003 he started playing tennis again, but skipped over Juniors and went right to the Futures circuit.
Fast forward to 2015, Istomin won his first ATP world tour title at the Nottingham Open, where he defeated Sam Querrey in the final. Istomin also won a doubles title with Alexander Bury later that year.
In 2016 he earned first tour-level win of 2016 against Borna Ćorić at the Miami Open but lost to David Goffin in the third round of Wimbledon.
The 6 ft. 2 in player was considered to have played the “Perfect Game” in the Australian Open in 2014. Despite being two sets down and possibly facing a break, he ended up winning all four points.
As for his personal life, Istomin has been described as a mamas boy since he is always accompanied by his mother/coach. Could this be the reason why nobody knows who is Denis Istomin’s girlfriend?
