Sofia Kenin Quick Biography

Sofia Kenin is one of the most promising young tennis stars in the world. A winner of four WTA singles titles, including the 2020 Australian Open, she is currently ranked no. 4 in the world and has a bright future ahead of her.

Kenin was born in Moscow, Russia but moved to the United States when she was 14, making her home in Florida. She started playing tennis at a very young age and had an impressive junior career winning many national titles as well as reaching two Grand Slam junior finals. Kenin made her professional debut in 2016 and since then has reached numerous WTA finals before finally winning her first title at the 2019 Mallorca Open.

The 2020 season saw Kenin reach new heights when she won her first Grand Slam title at the 2020 Australian Open against Garbine Muguruza in three sets after saving match points from being down 0-3 down in the decider set. Her physical style of play that relies heavily on taking time away from her opponents has become a trademark for Kenin, who has gone on to win three more titles that year including two Premier 5 events – Madrid Open and Internazionali BNL d’Italia – and a Premier event at Guangzhou International Women’s Open.

This strong performance from the 21-year-old American saw her break into the top 5 for the first time with a career high ranking of no 4 currently and there is no sign that she will be slowing down anytime soon as she looks to make more history on tour!
